Hey! So Glad You're Here.
My name is Jacalyn, most people call me Jacs. I was planning to get my first hives in 2022, but yet another life-shift made that not a possibility. So for now I'm living out my Beekeeping Journey through others.

How'd I get here?
Well, in the midst of a major life shift, I found both my escape and re-connection with BEES.
To me, bumble bees and honey bees are are symbolic and deeply personal. I started saying that "bees are my muse" for my new life direction, but then I met Muse.

The comparison between honeybees and my first passion, the Deaf-World, are surprisingly parallel. The American Deaf community is much like honeybees and Hearing allies like myself are much like beekeepers in the way that they don't need each other independently but do need each other symbiotically.

I went to the Art on the Green (massive annual arts, crafts, and farmer's market) where I came across a photography gallery of a man who lives in Utah. He and his with have a large garden, a couple of hives, and he is a professional photographer. He takes pictures of various wildlife but seems to specialize in photos of bees. He told me that he posts new pictures daily of bees on his website: https://bees.photo.
I was totally mesmerized by the photo above. I was staring and kept saying how beautiful she (the bee) was and the photographer shared his memory of snapping the shot. I wanted to buy it, but felt like I couldn't justify it because of my recent employment status. My best friend, was there to witness my reaction and turned to the photographer and said, "We'll take it."

I was overwhelmed with gratitude and teared up, I just couldn't explain my attraction and connection with the picture. The photographer then said that he has to charge for his work to make make a living, but my reaction to his work was really what it’s really all about. It was a beautiful moment.
I later named the bee in the picture "Muse", even though she actually represents me.

I developed a friendship with the photographer, Steve, while asking questions about Muse. He told me re-titled the photo "Muse" in his records also! My love for the picture has only grown, not sure how that is possible.

I asked Steve about copyright usage because I wanted to use the photo to represent my new direction in platforms like this (notice the background) and business cards. After I explained what the priceless value of the picture to me, Steve generously gave me copyright usage! I was prepared to pay several hundred dollars for it, even though it's worth way more than that to me, but gave her to me.

Now Muse is seen everywhere I establish my new direction.

Also? There just may be a Muse tattoo in the near future... ;)
